Micromorts

Privacy Policy

last updated · May 13, 2026

This is the privacy policy for Micromorts (the “App”), an iPhone application for looking up, comparing, and tracking everyday risk in micromorts and microlives. Micromorts is operated by One Quark Media LLC, a California limited liability company based in San Francisco (“we,” “us,” “our”).

We’ve tried to write this in plain English. Where we use a legal term, we explain what it means.

TL;DR

  • Micromorts makes no network calls at all in this version. The risk database ships inside the App.
  • It has no analytics, no telemetry, no third-party SDKs, no account system, and no ads.
  • It requests no system permissions — no camera, location, health data, or notifications.
  • Everything you log lives on your device only.

What we collect

Nothing. Micromorts has no analytics, no telemetry, no third-party SDKs, and no account system.

The App stores the following on your device only, inside the iOS-managed sandbox:

DataWhereContents
LedgerA JSON file in the App’s Documents folderThe risk entries you’ve logged — what you did, when, and the micromort or microlife value at the time you logged it
App stateUserDefaultsWhether you’ve completed onboarding, and your last-selected tab

Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all of this. There is no copy elsewhere because we never sent one.

Network requests

This version of Micromorts makes no outbound network requests of any kind. The curated risk database is bundled inside the App, so looking up, comparing, and logging risks all happen offline. Nothing you do in the App is sent anywhere.

If a future version adds a network feature, we will update this policy and describe exactly what is sent before that feature ships.

Permissions

Micromorts requests no system permissions in this version. It does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, health data, or notifications.

HealthKit import (workouts, steps, and sleep contributing to microlives) is a feature we may add in a future version. If we do, it will be opt-in, and we will update this policy to describe it.

Purchases

This version of Micromorts is free and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions. If that changes in a future version, we will update this policy before any paid feature ships.

Children

Micromorts is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. The App presents statistical information about risk and mortality intended for an adult audience.

Sharing with third parties

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data and make no network calls. The only third party involved in the operation of the App is Apple, for App distribution.

Your rights

Because we do not collect any data, there is no profile to access, delete, or export from our side. To clear the entries you’ve logged, use Clear Ledger in the App’s Settings. To delete all locally stored Micromorts data, uninstall the App.

If you live in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and have a question about this policy, contact us at the address below.

Security

All data is stored in the App’s sandbox, protected by iOS file-system isolation. iOS will encrypt the device contents if you have a device passcode set, which we strongly recommend.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date and surface the change in the App when you next open it.
